California is a state found in the western region of the United States. Introduction to the Park
This is an exciting state park found in California. Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is found only two hours east of San Diego’s beaches. Located on the eastern side of the Peninsula Ranges, this is the largest state park in California. It protects over 600,00 acres of land including twisting slot canyons, cool palm oases, dramatic badlands, cactus-studded slopes, and cool palm oases. This park has the name of Juan Bautista de Anza, a famous Spanish explorer that crossed the dessert in 1774.
There is also the word “Borrego”, referring to the area’s native sheep. As you approach the park just outside Borrego Springs town, you won’t help but notice the 130 meter enormous metal sculpture by Ricardo Breceda. These sculptures depict the various prehistoric that once occupied land. There is also an assortment of mythical creatures that one roamed freely. This park represents all this historical landmarks and will be a great place to stay.

There are several attractions near Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. For instance, you can enjoy the relaxing camping experience offered at the Galleta Meadows or take a walk at the Slot Canyon found a few miles away. Furthermore, Fonts Point located only six miles away will offer great dining options. If you like nature walks, you can explore the nearby Borrego Palm Canyon Nature Trail.

How to Make Reservations
This park has come up with a new system where you can reserve campsites upto six months in advance. However, bookings are based on availability and the number of people allowed per campsite. You can make reservations by either calling the park office or using their new online reservation system online.
