    Nevada is a state found in the western region of the United States. It borders California to the west, Oregon to the northwest, Utah to the east, and Arizona to the southeast. The state consists of mostly snow-capped mountains, sandy deserts and grassy valleys.The central and northern parts of Nevada are mostly with the Great Basin Desert. On the other hand, portions of the southern tip are mostly found within the Mojave Desert. 

    Nevada’s border with Arizona includes Hoover Dam and Colorado River. The land in this state can be divided into different regions. The Columbia Plateau that was formed as a result of hard lava in the state’s northeastern corner. Its deep canyons and high ridges were carved in as water slowly filled land over thousands of years.

    The steep Sierra Nevada mountain range crosses several parts in southern Nevada. Lake Tahoe, the largest alpine lake in North America is found in one of the valleys along the California border. Generally, this state has a lot to offer in terms of campgrounds. Here are some of them.

    Sonoma Canyon Primitive – Winnemucca, Nevada

    This campground is located 15 miles south of Winnemucca. To access it, use a turnoff along the Grass Valley Road. Thanks to its large size, there are many activities you can engage in. Some of them include horseback riding, hiking, biking, among others. There is also a lake located nearby, making it possible to engage in water-based recreational activities like swimming, fishing, surfing, canoeing, and boating. The campground features primitive camping for trailers and tents.

    Alkali Hot Springs – Tonopah, Nevada

    This is a private campground but you can use it for free. It is located a few minutes miles north of Goldfield. To access, take the Silver Peak Road west for seven miles and stop upon seeing a rectangular pool with a several tamarisk trees. You will see the springs up on the hillside, above the pool. You can stay here for a few nights, usually depending on the agreement with owner. Given that it is a private campground, you should adhere to the given regulations — one of them is that you should not litter the compound.

    Amargosa Valley Rest Area – Amargosa Valley, Nevada

    This campground is located in Amargosa Valley, Nevada. Overnight camping is allowed here. You will enjoy your stay here because the campground has access to amenities like a picnic area, restrooms, water, bbq, and a nearby market. The rest area is located between Death Valley and Las Vegas. Therefore, if you are using this highway, the rest area will come in plenty. Given its close location to the highway, you will notice traffic noises.

    Antelope Spring – Pershing County, Nevada

    This is a quite, exciting campground in Pershing County, Nevada. It sits a quite a large piece of land of around 56 acres. Given the large area, you don’t have to worry about parking your car. If you are planning to camp here, keep in mind that it operates on a first-come first-serve basis. Furthermore, it does not accept reservations. The campground has access to essential amenities like water, bathhouses, electricity, and toilets. While here, you can engage in activities like hiking, biking, horseback riding, among others.

    Avi Casino Free RV Parking Lot – Laughlin, Nevada

    Just like the name suggests, this is a free RV parking lot. This parking lot is an ideal and convenient place to stay for a night or two. The parking lot has a large area, so you can be certain of parking your car. If you are traveling with your dog, there is space for you to walk it. Some of the amenities available here include clean drinking water, toilets, bathrooms, WiFi, and electricity.

    Banc Club Tonopah – Tonopah, Nevada

    This is a campground located in Tonopah, Nevada. Banc Club allows overnight RV parking. It is a free campsite that operates on a first come first serve basis. To access it, use Main Street SR82 which is a few miles off the 376 that heads north from Tonopah. While camping here, you will enjoy amenities like a strong WiFi connection, water, electricity, and bathrooms.

    Berry Creek – Ely, Nevada

    Big Den Creek – Fallon, Nevada

    As much as this is a gorgeous campground, you will need a four wheel drive vehicle to access it. This is because the campground is located in a remote area, with the access roads getting muddy when it rains. Overnight RV camping is allowed here. However, there is no water nor toilets. You can get such basic amenities from the nearest town of Fallon.

    Big Smoky Rest Area – Round Mountain, Nevada

While here, you will access amenities like water, electricity, WiFi connection, trash cans, restrooms, picnic tables, among others. However, there is a staying limit of 18 hours. While, you can enjoy the fantastic view of the rugged Nevada mountains.

    Bilk Creek Reservoir – N – Humboldt County, Nevada

    This is a great campground located in Humboldt County, Nevada. It is about 3.4 miles off the US 140. The access road to this camp can be tedious to navigate, and so you should use a four wheel drive vehicle. The campground offers the finest amenities you can lay your hands on. Some of them are WiFi, hot showers, toilets, and electricity. It typically offers a friendly vacation setting. With its campsites set in open and spacious locations, this campground is truly a friendly and relaxing option you should consider. Some of the fun activities you can engage in while here include biking, boating, surfing, canoeing, and kayaking.

    Biltmore casino – Crystal Bay, Nevada

    Located in Crystal Bay, Nevada, the Biltmore casino has a spacious car park you can use overnight. You are only allowed to stay for one night, unless you get permission from the casino’s management. Generally, this is a very quiet and refreshing area. Some of the amenities you can access while camping here include water, toilets, bathhouses, electricity, and WiFi.

    Garnet Hill Dispersed – Ely, Nevada

    This is another exciting campground located in Ely, Nevada. To access it, use the Lincoln Highway and drive around six miles south. As much as the campground is neat and organized, the areas roads are a serious mess. Even a four wheel drive vehicle could struggle navigating them. Luckily, there is an alternative route that locals use to access the campground. It a little bit longer from the highway but it is worth it. The campground has amenities like water, toilets, bathrooms, and electricity.

    Gold Town Casino – Pahrump, Nevada

    Located in Pahrump, Nevada, Gold Town Casino has a spacious parking lot you can use overnight. It is suitable for a teardrop camper or RV. This area is generally quiet except for the distant traffic noises. The camping limit is one night. You can also engage in other activities like horseback riding and biking.

    Illipah Reservoir – Ely, Nevada
