Introduction to the Park
Named after Julia Pfeiffer Burns, this is one of the best state parks in California. The park stretches from the coastline of Big Sur into the nearby foot ridges. Julia Pfeiffer state park features tan oak, redwood, chaparral, madrone, and an 80-feet iconic waterfall that drops from the Granite cliffs into the ocean waters beneath. From the higher elevation trails found in the nothern side of the park, you will enjoy panoramic views of the sanctuary and several miles of the beautiful coastline.
There is also the Waterfall Overlook Trail that offers one of the biggest hike areas in the world. You will enjoy flat strolls while enjoying the views of McWay Falls, a popular tourist attraction. The atmosphere around the park is breathtaking, with sounds of waterfalls and refreshing breeze filling the air. This is quite an exciting state park that you will enjoy right from the start.

The preferred way of making reservations at this state park is by calling the park office and mentioning the dates you intent to visit. You can also use their website to make reservations online. The park charges a parking fee of $4 per vehicle. There is also an additional fee charged for groups of more than four. The best time to visit this campground is in the summer.
