There is a lot that happens when a baby develops their first tooth. It takes different times for babies to develop their first tooth — it can take up to a year in some while it can only take three months in others. Depending on the baby’s physicality, teething comes with different experiences.
It can simple and painless in some and at the same time, quite uncomfortable in others. Therefore, depending on what your baby is experiencing, there are several things you can do to help them manage the first tooth.
Massage Sore Gums
In most cases, the teething process doesn’t cause excessive discomfort among babies. However, you can easily tell when your baby is teething. They might show signs of discomfort in areas where the tooth is emerging. You will also notice swollen and tender gums around that area. This might make the baby drool a lot more than usual. You can help ease the discomfort by massaging the sore gums.
You can do so using a clean and soft washcloth. Teething rings could also help in this process. Experts also recommended that you should use tasty foods to help distract the baby from teething pain. You can use teething biscuit which babies mostly enjoy. However, make sure you watch the baby because they can easily choke on it. Furthermore, these biscuits contain sugar that might not be healthy for the baby’s tooth.
Clean Regularly
Once your child has their first tooth, you should clean it on a regular basis. Use a baby toothbrush with soft bristles to do so. Remember to be as gentle as possible.
